Hospital design and construction: a DtV approach

2025-10-08 23:31:47

You can see just a bit of the hand painted sign I made last year when I seemed to have a bit more time on my hands.. How nice will it be when we have the wood floors one day?.

Thanks to my Father-in-law (but not really cause now I’m even more scared to be home alone) for sharing this story with me!This is one of those things that is totally unnecessary, but it’s an idea I just couldn’t get out of my brain, so I did it..I saw these monogrammed tissue box covers at Pottery Barn, probably last year sometime, and something about them just made me happy..

This is my own version, made for Kennedy’s room. It’s a little different, and a little less perfect (of course), but it’s still the same basic idea..It started out as a plain wood tissue box cover from Dollarama that I was just going to paint white to cover up all those ugly bright boxes you get with your tissues.

Then Kennedy saw it and wanted to paint it all kinds of crazy colors herself, so I let her.Hey, it kept her busy for 20 minutes!

Sometimes that’s worth it!.

About 6 months later, I thought it was safe to move forward with my plan, so I painted it white. And you know how much I love to encourage and empower people to try things out for themselves and expand their home improvement capabilities.

I definitely go all “DIY cheerleader” on you around here from time to time.Sometimes though, you really need to know your comfort level and where your limitations are.

Like with electrical work!Sure, changing out a basic light fixture is really simple and a great DIY if you follow safety procedures, but let’s not all go trying to re-wire our entire homes without a little help.. Not only will you probably end up making a mess of it, a big job like that can be downright dangerous!
